Alloy 321 is austenitic titanium stabilized chromium-nickel stainless steel which is developed to provide Intergranular corrosion resistance ability. This is considered for the applications requiring welding under high temperatures. The alloy contains carbon 0.08%, 0.75% of silicon, 0.10% of nitrogen, and 2% manganese. This stabilizes the material against chromium carbide formation in addition to titanium.

What is the difference between 321 and 304 stainless steel flanges?

SS 321 stainless steel flanges are ideal for high-temperature applications as they are more corrosion-resistant than SS 304 stainless steel flanges. This property is attributed to the nickel alloy's titanium, which helps stabilize the material and increases its tolerance to heat. The production process involves pre-shaped pieces of stainless steel forming into their final shape with a die, thus ensuring superior quality and strength. In addition, heat treating further hardens the fittings by annealing them at temperatures between 1050-1150°C, making them more susceptible to corrosion due to their increased hardness. SS 304 stainless steel flanges are better suited for low-temperature conditions, & while they may not be as strong or corrosion-resistant as SS 321, they can still offer good durability.

What is ss 321 equivalent material?

SS 321 stainless steel is an alloy that combines iron, chromium, nickel, and titanium.
