General characteristics of AISI 316H Stainless Steel Round Bars-
The bars get their characteristics or properties from the grade being used for manufacturing. The UNS S31609 or alloy 316H is a modification of alloy 316. The latter is useful in services where the temperature is too high. This is due to the higher strength of alloy which also makes them useful for pressure vessel applications. Here, the bars work under temperature above 500 degree C or 932 degree F. this is due to high carbon content which gives it properties such as high yield strength and tensile strength. The excellent toughness of AISI 316H Stainless Steel Round Bars at cryogenic temperatures is due to its austenitic structure. The corrosion resistance ability of these bars makes them perfect to work in moderately corrosive environments. The environments containing halides or chlorides are such places where the corrosion resistance ability makes them an excellent product to be used. Other than this, it is good to use them under reducing and moderately oxidizing environments. Even in marine conditions, these bars show excellent resistance properties. However, in the annealed condition, the bars don’t show magnetic properties. The bars got strength or hardness from the cold working process instead of heat treatment. Welding and processing of the alloy are comparatively easier than other alloys thus no problems occur during fabrication processes of AISI 316H Stainless Steel Round Bars.
Corrosion resistance properties-
An exception to the bars made of this alloy is that it is suitable to work in environments containing sulfur. Pulp and paper industry is one such application having such environments. Other bars are unable to work under environments using acetic and phosphoric acids but bars made of alloy 316H offers good resistance even here. Industries like food and pharmaceutical involve use of fatty acids and hot organic acids that contaminate the bars. AISI 316H Stainless Steel Round Bars are good to be used in even such industries.
Fabrication of round bars-
The fabrication practices such as hot forming, cold forming and others can be easily performed on this alloy. The bars undergo hot forming practices at a temperature ranging from 1700-2200 degree F. the annealing process followed by water quenching is performed to attain maximum corrosion resistance in bars. No post welded heat treatment process is necessary for welding of bars.

The bars undergo various production stages such as:

• Chemical and physical testing
• Hot rolling
• Water quenching
• Hot inspection
• Physical tests
