AISI 304L Stainless Steel Description-
It has excellent strength and excellent corrosion resistance property. These round bars are typically used for many applications even in commercial applications and architectural applications. It is ideal to use in the severe chemical zones such as nitric acids, sulphuric acids, phosphoric acids, acetic acids and chloride and halides containing environments. These are applied for severely corrosive environments or in welding conditions. It is a preferable grade that can be used in the Intergranular corrosive environment. 304 SS is a variation of the standard 18-8 with chromium and carbon content. The low carbon content reduces the chromium carbide precipitation due to welding and susceptible to intergranular corrosive attacks. 304L is the extra lower carbon version having 0.03% of carbon content that reduces the chances of sensitization caused by welding. This alloy can be ideally used in the welded condition as well. Therefore, it reduces the necessity of annealing weldments except which require applications in the specific stress relief. However, lower carbon version has slightly down mechanical properties.

About round bars-
These round bars have higher strength and hardness that is achieved through cold working operations. In the annealed condition the lower carbon version is very ductile and can be processed from cold working operations such as deep drawing, bending, roll forming and other standard fabrication operations. This material tends to work harden rapidly thus annealing operation is necessary to restore the ductility and lower hardness. AISI 304L Stainless Steel round bars are readily drawn and formed. The higher composition of nickel is well suited to severe forming operations and for multi drawing operations. It is because of the combination of lower strength and down work hardening rates. It is from the family of austenitic grade. It is welded with all standard fusion and resistance operations. It can be exposed to maximum temperature up to 1650 deg F without any scaling. However, this grade is not treatable with heat treatment operations.
