Alloy information-
Stainless steel 316H is the high carbon content alloy that is developed for the use at the elevated temperature atmospheres. The alloy is having high strength at ranges of temperature and is used for the pressure vessel and structural applications at the temperature ranging more than 500 Deg C. The greater carbon content of the alloy is delivering the high yielding strength and high tensile strength. Also, the alloy austenitic structure is providing the greater toughness down to the cryogenic temperatures.
This alloy is resistant to corrosion in the moderately corrosive atmosphere as compared to the others. It is used often at the process streams that are having halides and chlorides. This alloy is non-magnetic in nature in the annealed condition and it cannot be hardened through the heat treatment. The material will be hardened through the technique called cold working. It can be welded easily and processed by the process of standard shop fabrication only.
