General properties of Stainless Steel 347 Forged Fittings:
Stainless steel 347 is stabilized chromium and austenitic stabilized steel contain columbium content. This alloying chemistry allows it to eliminate carbide precipitation and consequently intergranular corrosion. These forged fittings are stabilized by additions of tantalum and chromium content that offers higher creep and stress rupture properties than standard grades. These fittings may also be used for exposure where intergranular corrosion attacks and sensitization is a concern. In addition to columbium, these fittings allow having excellent corrosion resistance even superior to standard grades. These fittings have higher carbon composition from an alloy that shows improved high temperature and creeps properties.
Stainless Steel S34700 Socketweld Forged Fittings offer similar resistance to general and overall corrosion. These fittings are generally used for heavy welded equipment which cannot be annealed and for applications which are worked in the temperature range between 800 deg F to 150 deg F.
These forged fittings are preferred over other standard grades for low temperature and aqueous environments. Mainly, these fittings are used in high temperature environments where resistance to sensitization is needed. However, these fittings are susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. These forged fittings have excellent oxidation resistance to all similar austenitic grades.
