About Nickel 201 Buttweld Pipe Fittings:-
Pipe fittings are very common as well as important part of any piping system. They are used to define or change or branch the direction as well as to change the pipe’s diameter. Among different pipe fittings buttweld is commonly used.

A buttweld pipe fitting is same as other fittings that are used to change the flow’s direction or to reduce pipe size. The starting material of these is either seamless or welded pipe. These are available in elbow, tees and reducer shapes. The common among buttweld fitting is a welded fitting that offers cost advantage over the seamless fittings. Manufacturing process of buttweld fittings:-
The process begins with shaping the fitting by a hot forming process. Bending and forming is included in hot forming. A pipe is first cut to desired length, heated and then molded to get desired shapes. The dyes are used to get the shape. The residual stresses on fitting are removed by heat treatment. This also offers them mechanical properties.

Few methods like rolling, drawing, forging and extrusion are included in hot working. Every process is different in some sense but provide the same results. For example- in forging a hammer is used to provide mechanical presses whereas die is used in extrusion. The appropriate method of manufacturing is fully depended upon the considerations such as shape, sizes, material, standards, use and other properties.

Properties of Nickel 201 Buttweld Pipe Fittings:-
The nickel buttweld pipe fittings offer resistance against carbon dioxide or hydrogen sulphide in water. They also show resistance to corrosion caused by natural and distilled waters. The pipe fittings offer less corrosion rates in water up to temperature 200 degree F. In distilled water the corrosion rate is high against carbon dioxide and air in the ratio of 50-50 at temperature 160 degree F. Moreover, in oil well strainers these fittings can be used as they offer corrosion resistance against brine and hydrogen sulphide. Thus they offer better services in sea water.
