Description about Eccentric reducers
A reducer is a kind of pipe fitting that is used in the process of piping that reduces the size of the pipe from the larger bore to a smaller bore. There are mainly two types of reducer which are concentric reducer and Eccentric Reducers.

An eccentric pipe reducer is installed with a straight side up so that the air trapping can be prevented at the pump station.

Eccentric reducers are highly used with a flat side up in the pump suction to avoid cavitation. They are also used in keeping the small and big size pipes together for reducing the vibrations or noise at the same time.

It does not require much installation space. But you must ensure proper installation of the reducer in pump suction piping to reduce the accumulation of any gas or air bubbles in the suction.

If the gas bubbles manage to outflow from the Eccentric reducer and get accumulated in pump suction, it will result in cavitation which will damage the pump. But if they stay trapped in the reducer only, they will reduce the existing cross-sectional area of the pipe for the liquid to flow. This may result in higher liquid velocity into the pump suction, which can increase the frictional losses. Not only this, but it will also affect the long term reliability and overall performance of the pump.
