Alloy details-
Duplex 2205 are the nitrogen improvised duplex stainless steel that is developed for combating the common corrosion issues problems that are encountered with 300 stainless steel series. Duplex describes stainless steel family that is neither austenitic nor ferritic. 2205 duplex stainless steel is consisting of the austenitic pool that is surrounded by the regular ferritic phase. In an annealed condition 2205 is containing 4% to 50% ferrite. It is often referred to like 2205 a workhorse grade that is actually mostly used grade in stainless steel family of the duplex. The advantage of a duplex structure is that it is combining favorable qualities of ferritic alloy with those of the austenitic alloy. The usage of this alloy must be limited to the temperature below 600 degree and extended superior temperature exposure can embrittle stainless 2205.
