Product description-
SAF 2205 is basically a 22Cr duplex austenitic-ferritic stainless steel. It has a normal composition that comprises elements like molybdenum, nickel, chromium, and other useful alloying elements such as manganese and nitrogen. The duplex steel is available in tube form for wide application usage. It is also known as nitrogen improved duplex stainless steel which got developed so as to combat corrosion problems. The structure of stainless steel consists of a pool surrounded by ferrite phase. 2205 contain 40-50% ferrite in the annealed condition. It is often called as workhorse grade, that is why mostly used in the duplex family. The main advantage of it is that it blends favorable qualities of alloy like high strength and corrosion cracking resistance with austenitic alloy qualities like corrosion resistance and fabrication ease. The addition of molybdenum, chromium, and nitrogen convey high resistance toward crevice corrosion and chloride pitting corrosion. It can work well in brackish water, marine environment, food processing applications.
