General information of Copper Nickel 90/10 (C70600) Fasteners-
Copper and nickel alloys are made from the copper base metal and nickel is added with some other elements. It also contains an amount of zinc but not more than 1%. When other elements are mixed nickel is available in large quantity after copper. The copper and nickel grades having the amount of manganese are ideal for electric applications. When the iron is added on it, it significantly enhances the resistance of copper and nickel alloy erosion corrosion resistance in the flowing waters and other aggressive media.

Resistance ability-
These fasteners have good resistance ability in the organic compounds, salts, seawater, non-oxidizing acid and more. Due to the small mixture of manganese, it allows excellent resistance to seawater and brackish water. It also offers good resistance wet corrosion. Copper-nickel fasteners also have a higher resistance to stress corrosion cracking and impingement corrosion. Additionally, it offers greater strength for higher pressure applications. With only the addition of nickel content, hot strength of copper rapidly increases. However, by addition of iron mechanical properties of fasteners got decreased not only in nominal temperatures but in the higher temperatures too. Copper Nickel 90/10 (C70600) Fasteners can be used in the pressure vessel formation up to 300 deg C. above these temperatures, strength decreases and creep strength and creep strain got limit. For the heat treatment of Copper Nickel 90/10 (C70600) Fasteners, only soft annealing and stress relieving operations are performed. The crystal structure varies after annealing in the temperature between 620 deg C to 900 deg C, however, it depends on the cold working degree and amount of additional content such as nickel and other elements. For short term annealing higher temperatures are preferred and for long annealing lower temperatures are preferred. The stress relieving operations are performed in the temperature range of 280 deg C to 500 deg C. It is recommended to anneal other than air or slightly in the reducing atmospheres that avoid the pickling. It is necessary with air containing annealing conditions.
