Flange facing types-
Flat face (FF) - These flanges are used on the fiberglass flanges or on pump flanges wherein torques of the compressing gasket will damage the body of the flange.

Ring type joint flange (RTJ) - These flanges are used normally for the greater pressure gas pipe work. The ring type gasket must be used on these flanges.

Raised face (RF) - The raised face is one of the mostly used flange faces and is called same because the gasket is raised at 1/16” and ¼” above bolt circle face 1/16” and ¼” for 300 LB and 400 LB respectively.

Flange face finishes-
Cold water- It is having mirror-like finishes and is made with the wide tool at a greater speed that is giving the finished surface like the ground surface.

Concentric serrated- 90 Deg incline angle tool is used for making the groove and it is making the groove of 1/64” deeper and about 1/32” into the concentric circles.

Spiral serrated- It is the same as that of the stock finish but the only difference is the way groove is developed. 90 Deg inclined angle tool is used for making the groove 1/64” deep and feed is of 1/32”.
