ASTM A335 GR P22 Alloy Steel Seamless Pipes are seamless ferritic alloy steel pipes that are basically used for high-temperature services. The pipes are often recognized as chrome-moly pipe due to the combination of chromium and molybdenum content. The pipes impact superior tensile strength and ductility at elevated temperatures. The presence of molybdenum content ensures to increase the superior strength of steel that is less susceptible to embrittlement. Furthermore, these also raise high-temperature creep strength. While on the other hand, the chromium content facilitates superior resistance to oxidation at hostile environments.
Thus these also offer tensile hardness and yield at room temperature. These alloys of pipes are suitable for various industrial applications such as petrochemicals and oil refineries. In addition to these alloy of pipes enhances excellent good hardness and toughness. Thus this includes additional content such as manganese, silicon, nickel and chromium that greatly improves the resistance and mechanical properties of the pipes.
The pipes wear excellent resistance to strain, shocks, and hammering. In addition to these are hot and cold worked, thus the pipes are annealed at a temperature range of 1020 degree C-1070 degree C and get water quenched. The hot working of the pipes is performed in a temperature range of 954 degree C-1149 degree C. whereas the cold working is performed by the conventional cold working process. The welding of the pipes is done by means of welding methods that include MIG, TIG and SMAW methods.

Marking of product -
Marking of product is also important, thus after packaging the products are finally tagged with the product description that includes product specification, length, logo, size, and dimensions.
The main difference between P11 and P22 pipes is in their chemical composition. The chemical composition of P11 pipe includes Chromium (Cr) 11.0-15.0%, Manganese (Mn) 0.30-1.00%, Molybdenum (Mo) 0.44-0.65%, and small amounts of other elements while the chemical composition of P22 pipe includes Chromium (Cr) 1.90-2.60%, Molybdenum (Mo) 0.87-1.13% and smaller amounts of other elements like Nickel and Nitrogen making it have higher strength than P11 pipes as a result of its additional alloying elements. Additionally, P11 has lower creep resistant properties compared to P22 pipes due to lesser alloy content in its composition, which means that it can't withstand long duration exposure at higher temperatures without being structurally compromised whereas P22 is capable of doing so due to its enhanced alloying elemental makeup combined with better thermal conductivity for improved temperature tolerance over long durations of time.
P22 pipe material is ferritic and austenitic alloy steel. It conforms to the ASTM A335 standard for seamless ferritic alloy-steel pipe, and it is particularly well suited for high temperature service. It has excellent mechanical properties such as good creep strength, high tensile strength, good oxidation and corrosion resistance, excellent thermal conductivity and heat resistivity, plus ease of fabrication and welding. It is mainly used in power generation applications like boilers and turbines.
