General description of alloy:-
Hastelloy B2 is also known as UNS N10665 grade. It is a complete solution for engineering and industrial applications. It is combined with nickel and molybdenum content that is typically used for extreme reducing conditions. Hastelloy grade has down iron, carbon, silicon content as compare to traditional grades. The alloy is less susceptible to down corrosion resistance in the weld affected zone. The fabricability of alloy is increased with the addition of iron and chromium content. The alloying chemistry results in the high usage of grade in a wide range of applications.

This alloying chemistry can be used in the welded condition and less susceptible to stress corrosion cracking under the intermitting conditions. Care must be taken in the account in the selection of desired applications. Hastelloy B2 grade is not recommended to use in the temperature range between 1000 deg F to 1600 deg F. This temperature forms a secondary phase in that lead to down in the ductility.

With the presence of molybdenum content offers excellent resistance to hydrochloric acids over a wide range of concentric fluids. It has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting corrosion in the weld heat treated zone. This grade has good resistance to many chemicals such as phosphoric acids, sulfuric acids, hydrogen chloride environments. It has uniform corrosion resistance rates that are very similar to other molybdenum and nickel alloys.

The presence of debris in the composition even in the small amounts will increase the corrosion rates.

The Hastelloy B2 Flanges are manufactured from both cold and hot working operations. Usually, it is recommended for the hot working operation in temperatures range between 1700 deg F to 2250 deg F. it results in heavy deformations towards the upper end of the range. The re-heating of flanges is required. The solution annealing is performed on all hot worked flanges and followed by water quenching. The annealing process is performed at 1950 deg F for 10 minutes and later cooled by water under the controlled temperatures.

The manufactured range of hastelloy flanges is processed from industrial testing process to acquire precise dimensions and surface finish. Moreover, it is coated with SATIN coat that protects oxidation.
